Make “start running” your New Year’s resolution!

Happy New Year! While the average New Year resolution only lasts a fortnight (and just nine per cent of the people stick to their resolutions after half a year), Bridport Runners offer a simple one which can last for a lifetime: to start running. “The benefits of running are multiple”, explains Brian Shelley, Bridport Runners’ Chair. ”They range from getting fitter, losing weight or getting these rusty bones moving again to starting a new hobby and meeting people who are interested in the same thing.” Bridport Runners offer their help in making these resolutions come true. Everyone who … has been running before can visit the club on one of their regular runs (Wednesday night at 6:00 pm from the Bridport Leisure Centre or Sunday morning, 9:00 am, at the car park next to the West Bay Hotel in West Bay) or join the Club permanently. For those who want to start running from the scratch, Bridport Runners will offer the next beginners course on 12th March.

As every resolution should be concrete, here are two goals worth training for: On Sunday, 23rd of March, the second Sport Relief Mile, a one mile long run for everyone, will be held at St Mary’s School. And for the more advanced runners, Bridport Runners offer the next Bridport Jurassic Coast Run on Sunday, 13th of July, with the choice of a 5 kilometres and a 10 kilometres long route along the beautiful Jurassic Coast, starting from West Bay.
