Wessex Cross Country League: “Much harder competition this year”

It’s this time of the year again when local running clubs in Dorset and Somerset compete against eachother in the Wessex Cross Country League. This league which is supported by the Team Dorset Athletics Network consists of four races between September and December. It is open to all clubs who are affiliated to UK Athletics, plus individuals registered for competition purposes with UK Athletics. The first one of this years’ series took place last Sunday in the Canford Heath Middle School in Poole and saw a strong involvement of Bridport Runners …who finished 6th out of 22 teams. Ben was the first of the Bridport Runners and came in 5th overall in the roughly 8 kilometres long course. Next Bridport Runner to cross the finishing line was John (23rd), then Clive (35th), Norman (40th), Les (50th) and Pete (52nd). Vicky who was the only female Bridport Runner that day came in 9th. See all results of the first race day here.

Commenting on the race, Ben said: “It was a good day and the race was by all means much better organized this year. The competition itself is much much harder compared to last year with more runners in every race.”
