There were big smiling faces, there were runners out of puff, and there were tears of joy: What better way to finish Bridport Runners’ latest ‘From Couch to 5k’! Organised by Brian and Clive last night, the last evening of the current beginners course fell in place with the first of five 5k races for the club’s new 5k series. Eight beginners and a good bunch of active Bridport Runners followed the invitation to West Bay – and they really gave everything they had to give. First Bridport Runner overall was Ben in 17 min. 35 seconds, followed by Chris (21:11) and Hagen (23:14). The first of the beginners over the finish line at the old promenade was David in 28:11, second was Rosemary (31:30), third Jana (31:57). Well done to all of you! See all provisional results here.
Bridport Runners’ Chair Brian was very pleased with the outcome: “This is a great achievement, especially for our beginners, to come all the way from zero to run this 5k. They put their hearts and their legs into this race, and you could really see their commitment tonight. What we, Clive and me as coaches, also liked very much was to see the great comraderie in this group.”
Due to the ongoing success of this 9th course over the last years, there will be another ‘From Couch to 5k‘ in autumn of this year. The exact time will be published a few weeks ahead on this website and our Facebook page.
