From Exe to Axe – “tougher than the Grizzly”

From Exe to Axe - Brian and Kazy arriving in Sidmouth (03-04-2016)A beautiful landscape all along the Coastal path, some really tough climbs and a marathon-ish course: That’s what six Bridport Runners had ahead of them when they entered the “Exe to Axe” from Exmouth so Seaton yesterday. The 20 mile long run which was organised by Sidmouth Running Club, attracted nearly 280 runners (of which 217 finished), and among them were Bridport Runners Kazy, Clive, Adam, Ben (Loudon), Brian and Hagen.

From Exe to Axe - Martha, Ben and Brian (03-04-2016)While the first four ran the whole distance, Brian and Hagen ran a relay with a change-over halfway at Sidmouth. To the enjoment of everyone, the finishers were greeted in Seaton by Ben, Vicky and little Martha. The race was tough – “tougher than the Grizzly”, according to Adam, and the after-effects were felt today by everyone: “Wow, that realIy felt like the equivalent of a proper marathon”, says Kazy.

However, the Club did well with Adam finishing as first Bridport Runner in 3 hours 26 minutes 17 seconds as No. 25 overall. Second was Clive in 3:49:42, then came Brian/Hagen in 4:20:24, then Kazy  (4:35:07) and finally Ben who stayed with a colleague from work. Well done to all of you! See all results here.
