Now in its fourth year, the Bridport Jurassic Coast Run is adding a new distance: The organizers, Bridport Runners and Brit Valley Rotary Club, will not only host a 10k this summer but a half-marathon race for the first time, as well. The Bridport Jurassic Coast Run, which attracted 150 participants last year, will be one of the highlights of this year’s West Bay Days, taking place on Sunday, 7th of August.
The course will lead runners up to the top of the second highest hill on the south coast, Thorncombe Beacon near Eype, further towards Seatown and then back through Downhouse Farm, Eype and to West Bay – with entrants in the half-marathon having the pleasure of doing the gruesome climb twice. Both races will start from the Salt House in West Bay at 10:00 am for the half-marathon and 15 minutes later for the 10k runners.
Brian Shelley, Chairman of Bridport Runners, says: “We have applied to UK Athletics for both distances to be affiliated races which will, hopefully, attract a significant number of competitive runners from clubs all over the South West.” Registration for the races is now possible online through the website of Runners World (see “Bridport Jurassic Coast Run” under “Events”) or click on the Bridport Jurassic Coast Run flyer.
