Following the calendar of running events in our neighbourhood, the first Saturday in July is always reserved for the Charmouth Challenge. Which is actually what it claims to be: a challenging 8 mile cross country run in a beautiful surounding, leading runners first up the gruelling one mile climb of Stonebarrow Lane and later to the hightest peak on the South Western Coast, Golden Cap.
Eight Bridport Runners ─ Andrew, Ben, Hagen, Helen, Kazy, Les, Sara and Tom ─ took on the challenge on a beautiful sunny day and represented the Club respectably in this race which saw more than 230 runners in the main event (plus another 150 in the fun run), among them many participants from different running clubs. First Bridport Runner to cross the finish line was Ben in 59 minutes 43 seconds, ranked as No. 16 overall, followed by Tom (01:04:35) and Andrew (01:12:20).
