Fan Dance Race: “We had torrential rain to start and then 70mph winds.”

The Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales is a training course for the SAS, other military units … and for tough Bridport Runners, as well. Today Kazy, Jim and Jim’s sons Leon and John completed the Fan Dance Winter race, a gruelling 24km non-navigational race over two sides of Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in the Brecon Beacons. To understand how hard this is watch this video and read the following unbelievable lines which Kazy dropped us this afternoon:

“We have survived! We have completed the mountain race! It was utterly terrifying! It was one of the toughest events we have ever done. It takes enormous focus. Jim did amazing ─ considering as well he has been plagued by flu and injury. His boys Leon and John came in with him to complete an amazing finish. We had torrential rain to start and then 70mph winds on Jacobs ladder ─ I had to be weighted down to save me from  being blown down the 400 ft drops. I got 1st masters woman and 2nd overall women.” Well, well done to all of you!
