COMPETITION ISN’T DEAD…

Finishing The CapTEN on 25th October is itself an achievement, covering 10 miles, 2,400 feet of climbing and taking in Thorncombe Beacon and Golden Cap, two of the most ‘fun’ hills on the Jurassic Coast.

But for those of you wishing to stretch your legs we salute you with our plaques for 1st male, female, vet (unisex) and team (1st club to put their quickest 3 members over the line).

The inaugural running of Bridport Runners new race, The CapTEN, has been rescheduled for 25th October 2020. We apologise to those that hoped to race back in May but had to postpone due to Covid-19 restrictions.

All trainings sessions, beginners course and CapTen cancelled due to Coronavirus

Following England Athletics latest Coronavirus’ statement, the advice from the Fell Runners Association and the Prime Ministers’ statement yesterday that “everyone in the UK should avoid non-essential travel and contact with others” to curb the spread of the virus, Bridport Runners have taken the decision to cancel Wednesday evening training sessions, the Sunday club runs and the inaugural running of The CapTEN on 17th May 2020. We will also postpone the beginners ‘Couch to 5k’ course.

Participants on the beginners course who have already paid will be able to take part in a rescheduled course in the future, or can ask for a refund. Entries for the CapTen will also be refunded. Please contact Bridportrunnerssecretary@hotmail.com if you would like a refund.

When the situation allows, we will publicise new dates for the beginners course and will let you know when training sessions and club runs are to restart.

Entries open for The CapTEN, Bridport Runners’ new 10 mile fell run

Bridport Runners are introducing ‘THE CapTEN’, a 10 mile registered fell run taking in Thorncombe Beacon, Golden Cap – and 2,400 feet of climbing! The CapTEN replaces the Bridport Jurassic Coast Run, but still covers most of that event’s 10k course, consolidating the two distances (10k and half-marathon) into the most epic 10 miler.

There will be a few changes, though: The decision has been made to move the race from August to May and the start being relocated to Seatown. New for next year’s race will also be a team prize for the fastest club to put three finishers over the line. The CapTen will be a cup-less race to reduce single use plastic usage and littering. “Our Bridport Jurassic Coast Run may have ended”, says Bridport Runners’ Chair Ben Renshaw, “but ‘long live The CapTEN!’” Race entries are open on FullOnSport now.

Is it hilly you ask for? 2,400 feet of elevation gain over 10 miles, accredited by the Fell Runners’ Association (and tested by Bridport Runners). The course climbs Thorncombe Beacon (twice), West Cliff and Golden Cap as it’s highlights (chart by Adam Slater with courtesy of Bridport Runners).
